O Projeto denominado NOS PASSOS DO SEU JOÃO BATISTA, financiado pelo Corredores Ecológicos/MMA, com o objetivo de fortalecer a organizacáo dos moradores nas atividades de Geração de Renda, tem no Município de Jutaí como público alvo as famílias moradoras nas Unidades de Concervação Federal RESEX Jutaí, Unidade de Concervação Estadual RDS Cujubim e Terra Indígena Rio Biá do povo Katukina. O referido Projeto será executado pela Associacão dos moradores da RESEX Jutaí - ASPROJÚ, em parceria com diversos órgão governamentais e não governamentais, entre elas a AERDSC - Associação dos extrativistas do Cujubim, a OPAN e O PODAK, que assessora e acompanha as decisões e deverá participar de todo o processo de execução. |

In the municipality elections of past october, the Podak councelor Antônio Cândido was elected vice Mayor. He was the running mate of Aclé, who was also mayor of Jutaí between 2000 and 2004. Antônio Cândido ran for the PT, the workers party, the same party for which he as alderman the past four years. Mr. Cândido was a member of the now extinct MEB, a social movement from the catholic church, and played an important role in the social structuring of the families that live in the Resex de Jutaí. By stimulating them to group into communities, these families have had increased acces to educational and health care services. |

Ministry of Environment aproves project for Jutaí |

The Ministry of Environment of Brazil has approved the project "Nos passos do Seu João Batista", which will be implemented by all Podak partners as well as several federal and state agencies. The main goal of the three year project is to increase the production of rubber and copaíba oil in Jutaí, and to improve the sustainability of the fishing activities in the Jutaí river. The project has been granted over half a million reais under the Amazon Central Corridor Project. |
